Taiwan’s first official shop with Good Design Award section opened April 21
Taiwan's first official shop with Good Design Award section opened April 21 at DESIGN PIN in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei. As the 2nd overseas outpost following Hong Kong's GOOD DESIGN STORE in PMQ, the permanent hub will promote Good Design Award and Japanese design in Taiwan and to the rest of Asia. On sale at the new store now are 18 Good Design Award-winning products, and the lineup will be updated regularly.
DESIGN PIN, the design shop run by Taiwan Design Center and supported by Taiwan government, showcases not only Taiwanese products but also popular items from overseas to make outstanding design more accessible. In time with the transformation of the government-sponsored Golden Design Pin Award, from which the shop's name is derived, DESIGN PIN's interior design and the product lineup were renewed.
The director for the renovation of DESIGN PIN was Yu Yamada, the Good Design Award judge and retail consultant with focus on superb product design in Japan. With the concept "The Stock (Store) of Taiwan/East Asia Design," the store’s display will consist of Golden Pin Design Award- and foreign awards-winning products and items created by local emerging designers,
On the first day of its opening April 21, Taiwan government officials, people from affiliated companies and media gathered at the reception to celebrate the shop's opening and wish for its future development. Yamada offered his congratulations saying, "I would like this shop to play a leading role in Taiwan design."
