Today, Japan Institute of Design Promotion started to accept applications of 2012 Good Design Award.

In this year’s Good Design Award, we keep our principle of supporting 6 northeast provinces and also Ibaraki province reconstruction after the earthquake by providing a special measure of exempt the entry fee for them, overseas screening will be attempted at first time as well; Moreover, as the main event, Good Design Award Exhibition will be held on November. Plenty good designs with several perspectives will enrich your life.

Moreover, recommendation of Special Award [Long Life Design Award] also started today. Long life Design Award, whose design concept has been awarded 10 years ago, or whose design or product gained support from users continuously more than 10 years since it been released, any product can be recommended if it meets one of the conditions. And recommendation by website is possible if you are user of the product, a designer or provider.

Presently, several briefing sessions are taking place in Tokyo and all over Japan even overseas. Entry period of Good Design Award and period to accept recommendation of Long Life Award both end at June 1.

Subjects eligible for entry are product design, communication design, system/service design, etc.

※The production status should allow the Good Design Award announcement date of October 1, 2012. The entry must be available to be exhibited at Good Design Award Exhibition from November 23 to 25, 2012 in Tokyo. It also must be available for purchase or usage by individuals no later than March 31, 2013. The product is not necessarily available for purchase or usage in Japan.
※In some cases, Entry which has been submitted has probability to be excluded from screening.
