The Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) has opened entries for the GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2026 from Wednesday, April 1.

This year marks the 70th edition of the GOOD DESIGN AWARD, established in 1957. As one of Japan’s leading international design awards, it has gained wide recognition through its symbol, the “G Mark.” Award-winning designs are highly trusted by users and professionals alike as examples of quality, while also contributing to enhanced corporate image, stronger branding, and new business opportunities. Following selection, winners are entitled to use the “G Mark” in their promotional and marketing activities.

The GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2026 will launch under a new leadership structure. Jun Nakagawa, who brings perspectives spanning both design and economic and social activities, will serve as Jury Chair. Noriko Kawakami, Gen Suzuki, and Yuma Harada—professionals with expertise across diverse fields—will serve as Vice Chairs. In addition, approximately 100 jurors with diverse backgrounds, including international members, will participate in the evaluation process. From each of the 20 categories, one top entry will be selected for the GOOD DESIGN GOLD AWARD (20 awards in total). All award-winning entries, including the GRAND AWARD, will be announced on Thursday, October 15.

<Eligibility and Entry Conditions>

Eligible Entries:
Entries may include products, architecture, applications, software, content, services, systems, as well as projects and initiatives that utilize design, whether tangible or intangible. Entries are accepted from both Japan and overseas, for consumer or professional use.

Entry Conditions:
Entries must be eligible for public release on the award announcement date, Thursday, October 15, 2026, and must be available for purchase or use by users by Wednesday, March 31, 2027.

Eligibility:
Business entities responsible for the entry (e.g., manufacturers), as well as design firms.

Fees:
Fees apply at each stage, including screening and exhibition fees.
