GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2025 Results Announced

GRAND AWARD Presented to DLT Timber Temporary Housing

The Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP, Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroshi Naito) has announced the results of the GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2025.

A jury panel composed of leading figures in design from Japan and abroad rigorously reviewed 5,225 entries, selecting 1,619 recipients.

From among the “GOOD DESIGN BEST100,” 33 Special Awards were selected, including the GOLD Awards — one from each of the 20 categories. Among these, the highest honor, the GRAND Award, was presented to DLT Timber Temporary Housing, a new model of temporary housing developed after the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. This project enables the structures to be used permanently without demolition, offering a sustainable approach to emergency housing.

In addition, the Special Award for Future Society Design, which recognizes outstanding designs that foster co-creation toward solving shared global challenges in connection with Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, was awarded to The Grand Ring.

This year’s theme, “A Small Step, Design Leaps,” represents both the spirit of design today and the possibilities design can open up for the future. Eleven products were also selected for the Long Life Design Award, which honors items that have been beloved and trusted over many years.

All award-winning designs are available on the official GOOD DESIGN AWARD website.
