On Friday, March 29, the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) announced its "Focused Issues 2023.”

This year's theme is " Brave Attitude, Organic Design”. Nine Perspectives and 23 Proposals to encourage concrete actions for society released. Focused Issues is an activity that considers and recommends new possibilities for design through the GOOD DESIGN AWARD screening process.

A team of directors selected among the jury members and researchers consisting of experts from various fields will look at a cross-section of the entries, speculate on the role and potential of design, and propose the direction in which society should head in the future. In FY2023, Seiichi Saito, GOOD DESIGN AWARD Jury Chair, Jin Kuramoto, and Yuko Nagayama, Vice Chair, served as Focused Issues Directors, and Yutaka Nakamura, Sakura Nomiyama, and Aki Hayashi participated as Focused Issues Researchers.
