Magical Dagashiya Tyrol-Do win the 2022 GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD

Japan Institute of Design Promotion is proud to announce the result of the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD for the year 2022.

The GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD, deemed the design of the year 2022, is chosen from 5 candidates selected as finalists. Through the finalist presentation and voting by the Judges, winners, and audiences,  Magical Dagashiya Tyrol-Do win the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD.

Support child's development by locals [Magical Dagashiya Tyrol-Do]

Outline -
This is a magical candy store that the locals support children living in poverty or being lonely. The capsule toy machine at the entrance has a magic to change value of currency. We get rid of limit of target for the support. By doing that, we realized increase of both opportunity to approach children who really need support and opportunity to give adults a casual way to contribute in daily lives.

・A dramatic challenge to overcome the style of “support.”
"Dagashiya (penny candy store) is a place where children can gather without discrimination. The "Tyrol bill" is a new monetary unit only applicable here. Tyrol-Do was established in October 2021 to overcome the challenge of "support," which requires a lot of attention from both those who provide and those who receive, and is difficult to determine the proper extent. In support of this initiative, five mothers with small children opened a second store in Kanazawa in July 2022. Dagashiya employs a system with less burden of the initial investment. The day when Tyrol-Do expands all over the country will not be so distant in the future." a judging committee member said.
