JDP representative joined World Design Organization Board of Directors
The World Design Organization (WDO) is an international non-governmental organization which aims to promote “Design for a Better World”.
As the organization with UN consultative status, it raises as the mission to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by industrial design with particularly relevant goals.Currently, there are 173 members from companies, institutions, or schools of over 40 countries and regions. Japan Institute of Design Promotion, Japan Industrial Designers Association, Chiba University, Musashino Art University and Tama Art University join from Japan.
WDO, formerly the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), was created in 1957 to promote the profession of industrial design and changed its name since 2017. World Design Assembly, the general assembly convening all members is held every 2 years. In Japan, it was held at Kyoto in 1973 and Nagoya in 1989. The latest one was held in Hyderabad last October and Makiko Tsumura, Senior Manager of JDP was elected as the Board of Directors. The term will be until October, 2021.
