[Otera Oyatsu Club] wins Good Design Grand Award 2018
Japan Institute of Design Promotion is proud to announce the result of the GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD 2018.
The GOOD DESIGN GRAND AWARD, deemed the design of the year 2018, was chosen out of 6 Grand Award finalist, The GOOD DESIGN AWARD jury, winners of GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2018, and visitors to “GOOD DESIGN EXHIBITON
2018" casted their votes to select the winning entry. As a result of this selection, Temple activities for solving poverty problems [Otera oyatsu club] got GOOD DESIGN AWARD GRAND AWARD 2018.
<OUTLINE>
"Otera oyatsu club" receives various foods donated to temples, considering it as a gift from Buddha. And they distribute it to economically difficult families through organizations that support children. By connecting the temple that agreed with the purpose of the activity and the community groups that support the children and the single parent family, Otera oyatsu club are giving them sweets, fruits, foods, daily necessities. In Japan, one in seven children is in poverty. The number of children who are having trouble taking a meal once a day is increasing. On the other hand, a lot of food is served in the temple. This project aim to solve the problem of poverty by connecting the surplus of the temple to the lack of society.
