Japan Institute of Design Promotion released the Special Award winners of Good Design Award 2014 as of November 4.
Special Award winners were selected from Good Design BEST100, which were announced on October 1 as the entire collection of exquisite designs.

The breakdown of Good Design Award 2014 Special Award winners

Grand Award 2014:
Industrial robot [VS050SII]
DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED

It is an articulated robot for industrial use designed for work in a sterile environment such as food, medicine, etc. The mounted “hand” on the top moves quite flexibly for various work requirements. Its drip-proof and anti-pollution technologies for the surface also make it resistant to sterilization washing.

Comments from the jury

To fulfill all the requirements for sterile environment, polished surface and smooth shape without any gap are applied for sanitary maintenance. This is an industrial machine inspires the future story.
