Awards results of India Design Mark (I Mark, Organized by India Design Council) and Singapore Good Design Mark (SG Mark, Organized by Design Business Chamber Singapore) have just been announced. These two awards were both partnership business promoted by Japan Institute of Design Promotion since 2012.

3rd India Design Mark

It received about 100 entries during the application period from June 29 to October 27, 2013. 80 of them passed the first screening, and after the second screening there have 50 entries been awarded with I Mark. Among them, 4 award recipients are from three companies of Japan.
Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) has been providing assistants for the establishment and operation of design awards in other countries such as India and Singapore since 2012. This time, screening panel also invited juries from Japan such like Mr.Hideichi Misono (Advisor, Techno Art Research) and Mr. Masahiro Inoue (Professor, Nagoya Institute of Technology University) to share their opinions based on the rich experience of manufacturing in Japan. The venue of second screening was opened to public during the date of 20 to 23 of February. And selected 20 awarded products of Good Design Award 2013 were also exhibited as "Good Design Exhibition in India".

1st SG Mark

In 2012, cooperated to "DesignSingapore Council (DSG)", an organization under the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Government of Singapore, JDP started to provide assistance to the establishment of their national design award. In December 2013, Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS), an association of design businesses under the DSG signed MOU with JDP about design promotion, design award establishment and management.
According to this MOU, screening panel for the first Singapore Good Design Mark (SG Mark) was carried out on March 10, Mr.Kazuo Tanaka (President and CEO, GK Industrial Design Co., Ltd.) from Japan also participated in as one of the juries. 62 designs from 80 entries were awarded with SG Mark. And 7 of them were awarded with "Platinum", 9 of "Gold" awards as special awards. Japanese companies Nippon Paint and MUJI local subsidiaries were also been awarded.

Singapore Design Business Summit organized by DBCS was held on March 12. Mr.Hideichi Misono was invited as a guest speaker and had a discussion on theme of "Design and Business" with other three Panelists. From March 10 to 16, known as the "Singapore Design Week", in addition to the Singapore Design Business Summit, exhibition of SG Mark, design related events and other large-scale promotions were also been carried out. "National Design Centre" located in the center of the city also been opened, in future it will become a base for a variety of design promotion activities in Singapore.
JDP will continue to provide supports for design promotion in India and Singapore.
